Due annually on July 1 by FFLs who engage in the importing, manufacturing and dealing of NFA firearms, the Department of Justice has announced the Special Occupational Tax (SOT) can now be paid online.

Fast, convenient and secure, electronic filing is available for new and renewal SOT payments at Pay.gov, a service provided by the Department of Treasury.

How to pay the SOT online:

• Visit www.pay.gov.
• Search for “SOT” to find the ‘ATF Special Occupational Tax (SOT) ATF Form 5630.7’ electronic form. Alternatively, select ‘Justice (DOJ): Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF)’ from the Find an Agency database and select the same form.
• Create a Pay.gov account or check out as a guest.
• Complete fillable electronic form.
• Select payment option and enter payment information.
• Review and submit form.
