HARTFORD, CT (March 28, 2023) – Orchid and Williams Mullen’s Firearms Industry Group announce an examination of firearm law and finance at the 2023 Firearms Industry Conference (FIC), to be held virtually April 27-28 and live in Atlanta, May 1-3, 2023. Firearms industry attorneys and finance professionals will lead educational sessions on various topics relating to state and federal law, legal considerations, and financial operations.

“Mitigating risk and maintaining financial stability are critical to the success of any firearms business,” said Chuck James, partner and co-chair of Williams Mullen’s Firearms Industry Group. “Several states have passed new laws that require FFLs to adopt ‘reasonable controls’ to prevent the misuse of products, for example. Presenters at FIC will review and provide insight on various laws impacting the industry and discuss how to stay compliant, prevent and address lawsuits, and prepare businesses for both financial challenges and opportunities.”

One of three conference learning tracks, Firearm Law & Finance will offer guidance and best practices throughout the FIC 2023 agenda. Comprised of three events over five days, FIC On-Air, sponsored by digital storage leader 4473 Cloud, returns as a virtual option for new industry members and small-to-medium size businesses, followed by deep dive FIC pre-conference workshops and the main conference event.

Notable FIC 2023 sessions in the Firearm Law & Finance track include:

Virtual FIC On-Air

  • Overcoming State Compliance Challenges
  • Selling Online and Avoiding Lawsuits
    Avoiding Hidden Merchant Processing Fees

In-Person Workshops & Main Event

Attorneys interested in applying for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits for noted in-person sessions will be responsible for accurately tracking, reporting and submitting materials and individual applications to their respective State Bars seeking approval for CLE credits. Additional information regarding CLE procedures will be provided to registrants.

“When businesses manage their financial operations effectively, they can make informed decisions to optimize cash flow, minimize risk, and, ultimately, achieve financial goals and objectives,” said Credova Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, Jim Giudice. “I’ve attended FIC for the last three years and always find tremendous value in the program. The conference provides a unique platform to empower and educate industry members on best practices for the industry, including financial operations.”
