HARTFORD, CT (August 17, 2022) – The shooting sports industry leader in FFL technology, payment processing, and compliance services, Orchid LLC is proud to announce that its latest release of Orchid eBound™ is compliant with ATF Rule 2021R-05. Effective August 24, 2022, the ATF ruling requires modification to electronic bound book technology to accommodate the proper recording of Personally Made Firearms (PMFs) and PMFs bearing dual serialization markings.

“ATF Ruling 2021R-05 lists many new requirements, including revised firearm definitions, and revisions to marking requirements, recordkeeping practices, and method of document retention,” said Philip Milks, attorney at FFL Law and Orchid VP of Regulatory Services. “Much like our updates to accommodate ATF Ruling 2016 and the November 2020 changes to ATF Form 4473, we are pleased to be one of the first to offer the industry a compliant bound book product in advance of ATF required dates.”

The Orchid eBound™ release is the latest update to the attorney-backed bound book. Orchid regularly publishes material updates to its software products as part of the firm’s efforts to lead the industry in FFL technology. Continued software development offers subscribers the following recent and forthcoming product enhancements, amongst others:

  • Modern ATF 2016-1 automated backup service
  • Consumer-facing Form 4473 kiosk text services
  • Inventory management capability
  • Simple, fully-integrated ‘serial number’ audit tool (SNIT)
  • Digital storage technology, including a streaming eFFL API service
  • Turnkey integrations to major manufacturing ERP systems, such as Epicor, NetSuite, Sage, and Fishbowl
  • FBI NICS integration

In addition to updating Orchid eBound™, Orchid and partner firm, FFL Law, are responding quickly to FFL compliance needs with specific ATF 2021R-05 regulatory services, Zero Tolerance Rapid Assessments, and FFL Protection Plans, where firearm dealers can gain immediate insight to their ATF inspection risk with expert audits pertaining firearm laws and ATF regulations.
