On July 9 the Hawaii Governor signed a number of bills into law. Among them is SB 2845, which prohibits the sale of ammunition for any type of firearm to individuals under 21 years of age with limited exceptions for hunting and target shooting activities otherwise in compliance with the law. The bill also requires the transferor to obtain and examine the transferee’s photo identification prior to proceeding with the sale of ammunition. The bill took effect upon signature meaning that FFLs may no longer transfer ammunition to any individual within the State of Hawaii who is under 21 years of age.
