On July 17th, 2024, the Governor of Delaware signed Senate Bill 228 which modified the State’s “Assault Weapons” ban. In short, the State exempted rimfire pistols from its definition of “Copycat Weapon”. This change affects what products may be sold in Delaware and items such as semiautomatic rimfire pistols with threaded barrels are once again lawful for purchase in the State.

While FFLs in Delaware were likely aware of this pending legislation, FFLs in the other 49 States selling products online to Delaware consumers were most likely not aware this was occurring unless they were using Orchid’s eState™ software. The software not only provides a listing of all industry-facing pending firearms legislation, it provides FFLs with information on which products are legal in all 50 States. Orchid Advisors has already updated the industry’s only automated State restrictions software to represent the new status of such items in Delaware.
