Orchid LLC has been in operation for 10 years, providing retail and manufacturing software, payment processing, and professional services to the firearms industry. Our mission is to assist federally licensed businesses in complying with federal and state regulations while driving their financial growth. Our applications integrate with federal databases and our legal and professional services team work closely with FFLs, industry trade associations, ATF, Department of Commerce, and the Department of State.

Our team is located across the U.S. and in two international countries, though the majority of our resources are located in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Our business headquarters is in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Position Overview

The Sales & Implementation Manager is both a management and execution role. Reporting to the VP of Sales & Implementation, the individual will be responsible for oversight and coordination of the department as well as selling and implementing our software applications, including Orchid POS, eCommerce, and eBound, as well as ATF and export services and the Orchid-hosted Firearms Industry Conference.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Total target compensation: $80,000 (DOE)
  • Base compensation: $75,000
  • Bonus eligibility in year one: $5,000

  • Very strong understanding of technology concepts, ideally cloud software, but not required
  • Prior experience desired in the firearms industry, sales and/or implementation
  • Very strong attention to assurance and detail
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel data tools and formulas (proficiency test will be administered during the interview process)

Position Responsibilities

Department Leadership

  • Oversee lead generation through sales
  • Ensure the team is responding to leads timely
  • Manage the team’s compliance with CRM data standards
  • Manage the team’s conformity to our implementation methodology
  • Understand customer desired go-live dates
  • Determine the ‘most likely’ go-live time in light of the broader schedule
  • Add implementation activities to company project planning software

Lead Generation and Sales

  • Generate new sales leads through calls, emails, or trade show/event attendance
  • Expand our client-approved email database
  • Provide suggested sales campaigns to the VP of Sales & Marketing
  • Respond to in-bound leads generated through our marketing department or organic traffic
  • Learn and articulate the value of Orchid’s cloud-based software platforms including Orchid POS, Orchid eCommerce and Orchid eBound, and our merchant processing platform, Orchid Pay
  • Facilitate or host online and in-person product demonstrations
  • Accurately enter and maintain leads in our CRM system
  • Work with potential clients to understand their needs and financial position
  • Generate written testimonials and identify good candidates for customer case studies

Implementation Planning

  • Determine type of implementation (remote, on-site, hybrid)
  • Coordinate with Orchid’s regulatory and legal functions for needed support
  • Understand the customer’s unique needs, including regulatory requirements
  • Document and create a plan for the conversion of regulated and non-regulated data
  • Coordinate initial catalog loads, distributor integrations, and third-party integrations
  • Assess hardware needs and work with clients to acquire such hardware
  • Facilitate submission of merchant services applications
  • Facilitate purchase and setup of credit card swipe devices
  • Understand broader ecommerce needs and solicite the initial design intent

Implementation Execution

  • Configure software applications
  • Analyze and cleanse, where permissible, and load customer-related data
  • Implement part master, customer master and vendor master data
  • Schedule and deliver software and business process training
  • Perform test transactions to ensure applications are working properly
  • Train users on the use of Orchid’s software applications, hardware, and new business processes
  • Provide go-live and post-go-live assistance, including resolving issues in a timely manner, identifying urgent situations, and ensuring a proper escalation process
