Yesterday, a second Virginia court issued an injunction against the enforcement of the new “assault firearm” and “large capacity ammunition feeding device” prohibitions contained in Senate Bill 749.

In an opinion letter, Judge Campbell of the Washington Circuit Court determined that the prohibitions likely violate the Virginia Constitution.  While last week’s decision limited the injunction to December 31, 2026, the injunction issued in Santolla v. Katz will be in effect until July 1, 2027 unless modified by the court prior thereto.  For now the gun owners and businesses in Virginia have multiple court decisions protecting their right to purchase and own modern sporting rifles and standard capacity magazines.
