HARTFORD, CT (March 21, 2023) – Orchid and Williams Mullen’s Firearms Industry Group announce an emphasis on FFL software and technology at the 2023 Firearms Industry Conference (FIC), to be held virtually April 27-28 and live in Atlanta, May 1-3, 2023. Industry technology experts, ecommerce leaders, and agency personnel from the ATF will lead educational sessions on various topics relating to modern software solutions for today’s firearms businesses.

“As technology continues to evolve, so too must FFL operations,” said Orchid VP of Sales, Shaun Phelan. “From recent ATF Ruling 2022-1 encouraging electronic A&D recordkeeping to the rise of retail ecommerce, there’s a significant need for technology education in our industry. This year’s conference agenda attempts to fill that knowledge gap by addressing the technical needs of modern FFLs, including integrated point-of-sale, firearm-friendly merchant processing, how to effectively sell online, and when to upgrade to an ERP system.”

One of three conference learning tracks, FFL Technology solutions and best practices will be highlighted throughout the five-day FIC 2023 agenda. Virtual FIC On-Air, sponsored by digital storage leader 4473 Cloud, will be held online April 27-28, followed by Pre-Conference Workshops on May 1 and the FIC Main Event, May 2-3, in Atlanta.

Notable FIC 2023 sessions in the FFL Technology track include:

Virtual FIC On-Air

In addition, industry members who attend the FIC Pre-Conference Workshop, ‘Firearm & Ammunition U.S. Export Mechanics,’ will receive a walkthrough of DDTC and BIS web applications, DECCS and SNAP-R. ATF leadership will also review the ATF eForms platform during the Main Event.

“FIC provides an opportunity for industry members to learn about potential risks their businesses face, such as ransomware attacks and other data breaches,” said Rob Van Arnam, Chair of Williams Mullen’s Data Protection & Cybersecurity Practice. “Business leaders who want to ensure their policies and compliance efforts are consistent with ever-changing state, Federal, and even international, privacy laws, will receive the guidance they need at FIC.”
