ATF Guidance on Disaster Preparedness for Federal Firearms Licensees On July 2, 2014, the ATF issued the following guidance. Additional information can be found on the ATF website. “The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is committed to ensuring public safety by working directly, and through partnerships, to assist licensees in complying with the Federal firearms laws and regulations. Federal Firearms Licensees should refer to ATF Publication 3317.7 in preparation for potential disasters, such as hurricanes, floods and tornado’s. The National Weather Service has forecasted that tropical storm Arthur will continue to strengthen and become a hurricane as it takes a northerly, then northeasterly path along the Atlantic coast of the United States. Federal Firearms Licensee’s should establish a disaster preparedness plan, to safeguard your business by protecting firearms, ammunition and required records. If necessary, take precautionary steps by contacting your local ATF field office regarding the removal of firearms and ammunition inventory, as well as ATF Forms 4473, 3310.4 and acquisition & disposition records from the business premises to a safe location.”
